Our First Training Missions

Today, Amy and I set up an obstical course for Emily and Kelly's robots using various props from previous years.  Here's the challenge.  The robot had to start from a bridge, knock down the ramp, successfully drive off the ramp, put a ball into a catapult, launch the catapult, and hae the ball go inside of the basket.  

The rules were that after pushing go they could not touch their robots.  We were a little lenient with them and made all of their objectives form a straight line.  Also we set up the basket so that if the catapult was lauched at the correct speed, the ball would fly into the basket.

This turned out to be a great training mission because they had to build and program their first robots, and it got them to think about how to solve a mission.  Amy and I taught them how to flowchart their programs.

Both Emily and Kelly did really well on this challenge.  I can't wait to teach them some more.
